This is the editor's note to be used on the front of the Oct. 1 papers.
So what's with the pink newspaper today?
Every GateHouse newspaper in Massachusetts is painting the town pink today in support of the American Cancer Society and its efforts to increase awareness during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In this issue you will find stories about the state of research and treatment for breast cancer, as well as profiles of breast cancer survivors.
We've also included information about Sunday's Making Strides for Breast Cancer fundraising walk in Boston and information about where to find more about breast cancer detection and treatment.
Pink is the “official” color for breast cancer awareness, and many of the advertisers in this edition are flying their colors in support of the cause.
A portion of the advertising revenue and part of the cover price of every pink newspaper sold on newsstands today will be donated by GateHouse Media to the American Cancer Society.
We will be publishing more stories throughout the month to raise awareness and tell the stories of the men and women affected by breast cancer and the survivors and their families who are working to find a cure.
