LITTLE ROCK -  The Marvell Mustangs (4-2, 3-1) got a huge win over Abundant Life Academy (1-15, 0-4) in Little Rock on Friday night

by a score of 84-47.


The Mustangs got off to a fast start against the Owls, taking a 23-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Led by DeAndrea Arnold, the

Mustangs continued to pour it on in the second quarter. When the two teams entered the locker room at the intermission, Marvell had

doubled up the Owls with a 52-26 lead.


Continuing with its signature pressure defense and up-tempo style, the Marvell continued to increase its lead in the third. As the final

stanza started, the mercy rule was in effect and the Mustangs led by 36 points at 73-37.


Even with the nonstop clock for the final eight minutes, Marvell managed to put an additional eleven points on the board during the

final period.


Arnold led the Mustangs with 23 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. Kentris Smith added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Orentaia

Johnson rounded out those in double figures for Marvell with 10 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.


Marvell Coach Galdric Thrower was pleased with the team’s performance. After the game he said, “Our team came together and played

team ball. We moved the ball around and we played good defense. We played hard and we got the win.”





The women’s team fell to Abundant Life 34-25 to fall to 1-4, 1-2 on the season. Tamera Carruth led the Fillies with 15 points. Marvell

will travel to Pleasant Plains, AR to take on Midland tonight in conference play.
