Funeral services for Missionary Ruth Mae Duncan, 64 of West Helena, will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Greater Powerhouse C.O.G.I.C., 531 Ladino St. in West Helena, with Supt. Alex J. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church in Elaine. Visitation is today at Greater Powerhouse from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.


Missionary Duncan was born January 12, 1954 to Bob and Neomia Williams of Mellwood, Arkansas, the third child of seven children. Ruth accepted Christ at an early age in Lambrook, Arkansas at Brooks Chapel M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor J.W. Webb. On September 2, 1980, she was united in holy matrimony to Wilbert Duncan, Jr. in Elaine, Arkansas. Through this union they were blessed with six children and one additional child in the home.


In July of 1987, Missionary Ruth Duncan proclaimed sanctification, being filled with the holy ghost and became a faithful member of the Greater Power House C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of Supt. Alex J. Smith and First Lady Clinton Smith. She held various positions, such as District Sunshine Band President, Formal District Home and Foreign President, Licensed Evangelist, Missionary, Young People Willing Workers President, Superior Prayer Warrior and President of Youth with Purpose. Missionary Ruth Duncan was a woman of peace, strength, joy, and the epitome of love. She had a great impact on people in the community and was loved by everyone.
Missionary Duncan departed this life on November 25, 2018. She was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Johnny Lomack, Sr. She leaves her loving, sweet memory to be cherished, and her life to be celebrated by: her husband, Wilbert Duncan, Jr.; her oldest daughter and caregiver, Chetu “Dottie” Robinson of Jonesboro, AR; Chetiz “Tiffany” Speed (Henry) of Jonesboro, AR; Everette “Preacher” Duncan of West Helena, AR; Terrance Duncan (Keisha) of Memphis, TN; Rebbie Harrell (Antonio) of Jonesboro, AR; four stepchildren, Teshema (Frankie) of Agston, KS; Antwan Jefferson (Teresa) of Crumrod, AR; Marcus Duncan (Crystal) of Dallas, TX and Elijah Jones (Delvonna) of Lakeview, AR; five of her six siblings: Carolyn Sparks (Walter) of Lambrook, AR; Clyde Williams (Alenora) of Lambrook, AR; Ricky Williams of West Helena, AR; Tina Taylor (Glenn) of Helena, AR and Michael Keaton (Joyce) of Forrest City, AR; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Melodi “Rose” Sheard and a host of family in Christ, other beloved relatives and cherished friends.
