Alzheimer’s Arkansas walked indoors and outside during the Helena/West Helena Alzheimer’s Walk held September 8th at 8:30 a.m. at the UAMS East Campus, located at 1393 Highway 242 South in Helena.

Proceeds from the Walk will remain in Arkansas and help to fund needed services for Arkansas families affected by Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Participants who donated at least $25 each received a commemorative T-Shirt, while supplies lasted. There were door prize raffles, as well as awards for teams and individuals. There was also a Senior Food Drive for peanut butter, canned soup or meat, Boost/Ensure, and toilet paper. Participants who donated received door prize raffle tickets for each item donated. There was also a walk team banner competition.

Alzheimer’s Arkansas is an independent non-profit 501(3)(c) organization governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors. Incorporated in 1984, this year marks their 30th Anniversary of supporting Arkansas families. The mission of Alzheimer’s Arkansas is to provide the information and support needed so that all Arkansans affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias are able to manage with dignity and comfort until a cure is found.
