With rain in the weekend forecast, two upcoming events have moved or canceled, including a Friday concert and the Teen Driving Roadeo.
The National Weather Service calls for a 70 percent chance of rain Friday and says thunderstorms are likely to kickoff the weekend.
Due to the strong likelihood of rain, Conway Symphony Orchestra's free concert scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Simon Park will now be held in the Snow Fine Arts building on the University of Central Arkansas' campus. The Snow Fine Arts building is located between the cafeteria and the student center. Parking is available in any UCA lot.
Weather officials also call for a 70 percent chance of rain Saturday, and a flash flood warning has been issued for Friday night through Saturday night.
The Faulkner County Coroner's Office along with the Arkansas Children's Hospital and Central Arkansas Infant Child Death Review team have canceled the Teen Driving Roadeo that was to begin at noon Saturday in Greenbrier.
Faulkner County Coroner Jessica Thorn said organizers looked to relocate the event for the weekend, but all nearby locations are currently booked. A new event date has not been set at this time. However, she encourages residents to keep their eye out for the event so that they can attend once it is rescheduled.
The event is focused toward educating teens on the dangers of distracted driving while providing a hands-on learning experience to encourage Faulkner County teens to practice safe driving habits.
