Helena-West Helena Detective Williester Black was dispatched to Burger Shack, located at 372 North Sebastian, for an alarm Monday, September 10, 2018 at approximately 10:07 p.m.
Detective Black immediately noticed the Burger Shack drive through window was broken out. He advised dispatch and requested backup.
Detectives Aresino Jefferson and Wesley Smith arrived to assist. Detective Jefferson went to the Sonic to contact the Burger Shack owner.
Detectives Black and Smith walked around the building for security purposes. During the walk through, Black found a rock inside on the floor.
The owner arrived on scene to open the door and the building was cleared. Once inside the building, the business owner played the security video back to the time of the alarm call.
While watching the video, Detective Black noticed two black male juvenile subjects standing at the drive through window. One of the males threw a rock and busted the window. A black male juvenile is seen climbing through the broken window and making entry into the building, while the other black male juvenile is seen standing outside. The male juvenile inside the building looked through the desk drawers, file cabinet drawers and all the other property inside the back office. The male juvenile inside the building is seen taking money and stuffing it in his pocket before being seen leaving the building.
A short time later, dispatch advised that two possible suspects had been seen at Walmart. Officers responded to Walmart, however it was determined the suspects were not there, but the family of the two suspects was there.
After notifying the family of the situation at Burger Shack, the family told Detectives that the two juveniles were at an address on Kentucky Street.
Detectives Black, Jefferson and Smith went to the address on Kentucky and found both juveniles inside the residence. One juvenile was still wearing the grey jacket from the burglary.
The Detectives advised the two juveniles of who they were, who they work for, and the reason they were there at the residence. Both juveniles were placed in custody. The two juveniles told Detectives that the money from the Burger Shack burglary was inside their pants pockets.
Both juveniles were transported to Helena-West Helena Police Department for processing. After processing, both juveniles were transported to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a court hearing scheduled for September 12, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.
