Residential Burglary reported on Franklin in Helena
Helena-West Helena Cpl. Jenelle Tyner was dispatched to take a break in report on Franklin. The homeowner told Cpl. Tyner had had left his home at approximately 6:00 p.m. returning at approximately 8:30 p.m. When he got close to the church located across the street from his residence, he noticed a slim black juvenile male, dressed in all black clothing with a towel on his head, standing in front of the church. When the male saw, the homeowner, he ran from the area. The homeowner discovered the front door glass window was broken out and the dead bolt unlocked. The inside of the residence was ransacked. The homeowner told police that he had a large amount of cash in stashed in the residence. The cash was gone and a 42-inch flat screen television was also missing.
Officer Tyner requested dispatch notify GIB. Detective Tyler arrived to further document and begin the investigation process.
Victim choked by attacker at residence on Ann Street
Helena-West Helena Police Officer Luther Hayes was dispatched to an assault call on Ann Street in West Helena on Sunday, September 2, 2018.
Officer Hays was advised by the victim that she had been attacked and identified the attacker. The attacker reportedly forced his way into the home, took her phone and started choking her. The victims daughter heard the commotion and entered the room. The suspect then stopped choking the victim and ran away.
On the suspects way out of the door, he dropped his black LG Android cell phone. The suspect, 27-year-old Cedric Renard Alston of Lula MS will be charged with assault - 2nd degree; theft of property, and residential burglary.
Residential Burglary on Walker St in Helena
Helena-West Helena Police Officer Cynthia Gamble responded to Walker Street in Helena in reference to a residential burglary. Officer Gamble made contact with victim, who stated that he did not stay home last night. However, when he did return, he found his home was broken into. The victim told Officer Gamble all that was missing was his $215 in cash. The victim stated that he had a female visitor, but declined to mention her name.
