Robert Lee " Pete" Kirby was born on March 27, 1950 to the late Arthur and Effie Mae Kirby in West Helena, Arkansas.  
He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at St. Luke M.B. Church and attended various other churches during later years.  
Robert graduated from Eliza Miller High school in 1969. He graduated in the top 10 of his class. He was also on the B Varsity Basketball Team under the late Coach John Rhodes.  
After graduating, Robert moved to Chicago, IL, where he worked at Chicago Steel Mill for many years. Pete was a very loyal and dedicated friend and family member to those who affectionately knew him.
Pete was a lover of life and cared for others. He enjoyed basketball and dancing and was good at both.  
Once his health started failing him, he moved back to Helena, Arkansas where he resided at Crestpark Nursing Home until God called him home on July 22, 2018.  
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Effie Mae Kirby, and a sister, Minnie Mitchell. Robert leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Laneir Jacobs of Little Rock, AR, two grandchildren, Deja McCline and Dondric McCline of Little Rock, AR, three brothers, Arthur Kirby, Jr., Michael (Ninay)Kirby of Jacksonville, AR, Nigel Kirby of Jonesboro,AR; two sisters, Erma Jean Johnson of Jacksonville, AR, Magnolia Buie, formerly of Flint, MI, a special friend, Doris McCullough of Chicago, Il and a host of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. 

Funeral services for Robert Lee"Pete" Kirby  will be held at  11:00am  on  Saturday, August 4, 2018  at Brown's Chapel. Rev. Amos Newell will officiate. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on  Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 10:00am-11:00am  at Brown's Chapel.
