Tropical temperatures don’t keep the Village Pine Needlers from pursuing their projects.
For variety, they participate in some retail therapy at yarn shops around the state. Their latest itinerary took them to Knit unto Others in Arkadelphia. A few members of the Happy Hookers Crochet group went along.
Just down the street was a stitchery exhibit at the Arts Center. After a productive visit to the yarn shop they braved the heat and took a break at 67 Grill before heading to the Stitchery Spectacle.
An assortment of hand crafts was represented – not only knitting and crochet, but also embroidery, quilting, felting and even macramé.
The next journey is planned for Aug. 16 when they will meet at Christ of the Hills UMC at 9 a.m. and then head to Knit 2 Together in Russellville.
Regular meetings are held monthly except for June, July, August and December. The group also has monthly get-togethers at various locations:
• First Friday – 10:30 a.m. in the back party room of Diamante Clubhouse. This is a casual gathering when knitters visit and work on their current projects, then have an opportunity to enjoy lunch before going back to their needles.
• Second Tuesday – the DeSoto Club. The meeting time is 10:30 a.m., plenty of time to get in some stitches before a break for a delicious lunch.
• Fourth Thursday – knitters meet at 1 p.m. in the comfortable lobby of Village Church of Christ, 210 Balboa Road.
Anyone who has ever held a knitting needle is welcome, as are those who would just like to learn how to knit. Members have varying levels of experience and skill and are always eager to share that knowledge.
Although guests are always welcome to visit and check out the club, membership in the Village Pine Needlers is $15 per year.
