Funeral services for James Henry " Coon Cane" Jackson, Sr. will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Barton, AR. Rev. Johnny Jackson will officiate. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Brown's Funeral Home. 


James Henry Jackson, Sr. affectionately known as “Coon Cane” was born on January 28, 1952, in Helena, Arkansas. James was the seventh child born to Frank and Maggie Jackson.

James was educated in the Helena-West Helena School District. During his high school years, he met his sweetheart of forty-one years, Iola Murphy-Jackson. They were united in marriage on August 5, 1977. This union was blessed with four children, James, Jr., Lee Andrew, Elizabeth Kim, and Diana.

James was a very humble and laid-back person who loved fishing, music, singing, and dancing. He also had an overall passion for building. James was a hard worker who gave Insulation and Refactoring Service, Inc. thirty years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Maggie Jackson, his brothers; Leroy Jackson, Larry Jackson, Mose Jackson, and Jerry Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of forty-one years, Iola Murphy-Jackson, two sons; James Henry Jackson, Jr. of Helena, AR, Lee Andrew Tucker of Maumelle, AR, and two daughters; Elizabeth Kim Jackson of Little Rock, AR and Diana(Curtis) Wilborn of Lexa, AR; two sisters, Sarah(Abe)Lovelace of West Helena, AR, Eddie Mae Jackson of Opa Locka, FL, one brother, Rev. Johnny(Gloria) Jackson of West Helena, AR, his mother-in-law, Minnie Bell Murphy, two brothers-in-law, Ulis Murphy of Chicago, Il, Mike Murphy of Conway, AR, and a sister-in-law, Brindy Whitfield of West Helena, AR, two special brothers, Jerry Walker of Helena, AR and Johnny Walker of Las Vegas, NV and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
