Funeral services for Charles Watkins, Sr. will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Greater Powerhouse C.O.G.I.C.  Burial will at Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Brown's Funeral Home. 

Charles Watkins, Sr. was born on October 25, 1946 in West Helena, Arkansas, to the late Supt. Phillip and Missionary Marie Watkins.

Charles accepted Christ at an early age in Lakeview, Arkansas under the late Supt. Phillip Watkins.

Charles graduated from Eliza Miller High school (currently the middle school) Class of 1966 in West Helena, Arkansas. Charles was in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Korea as a medical specialist for the 44th Surgical Hospital.

Charles was employed at various places in the Phillips County area including Walmart, Amerimax, and Allied Chemical.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Supt. Phillip and Missionary Marie Watkins, a son, Charles Watkins, Jr., three brothers, Phillip, Milton, and Jonathan Watkins, two sisters, Lois Staggers and Geraldine Watkins Jennings.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of forty two years, Shirley, a son, Cortney Watkins of Little Rock, AR, two daughters, Monique Watkins of Silver Springs, MD and Motacha Watkins of West Helena, AR, a God-daughter we raised, Latisha Fernandez of Columbia, MO, God-sons and daughters; Sheila Nelson of Upper Marlboro, MD, Chasity Peterson of Jacksonville, AR, Erica Robinson, Sharon Moore, Terra, Kimberly, Larry and Kevin Crumpton all of Little Rock, AR, Terrie Mooney of West Helena, AR, William and Erma Mooney of Conway, AR, five grandchildren, Keandra Whitlock, Cortney Watkins, Jr., Kadlin Smith, Anthony Simmons, Johna’e Robinson Watkins, a great-grand daughter, Diane Whitlock, two sisters, Ora Lee Jones of Detroit, MI and First Lady Ruth(Bishop Samuel)Diggins, Sr. of South Bend, IN, a brother, Harold Watkins of Detroit, MI, two half-brothers, Bishop John (First Lady Willie Mae)Sheard of Detroit, MI, and Otis(First Lady Ethel) Sheard of Detroit, MI, six sisters-in-law. Willie Mae(Odell) Pryor of Detroit, MI, Reola( James) Davis of Chicago, IL, Betty(Albert)Parker of Austin, TX, and Geraldine(Bradley) McPherson of California, four brothers-in-law, Elton (Ida) Redden of Tyler, TX, Gilbert(Rose)Redden of Detroit, MI, Amos Redden and Will (Amanda) Ester Redmon, a God mother, Ora Rainey Brewster and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins and friends.
