Announcement: The public is asked to participate in choosing the 2018 Faulkner County Fair theme now through April 27 at midnight. Suggestions will be accepted by the Faulkner County Fair Parade Committee by email only at email@example.com. A theme that incorporates the fair, Faulkner County and would make fun, interesting parade float designs is preferred. The individual whose theme is chosen will receive a $50 prize from the committee. Individuals may submit up to two entries.

Mt. Vernon Community Cemetery annual spring clean up: 8 - 11a.m. Saturday, April 28; Mt. Vernon,AR; Anyone with a loved one buried in the cemetery is encouraged to come and take part in the clean-up. McNew Cemetery Annual Meeting: 9 a.m. Saturday, April 28; McNew Cemetery in Greenbrier; As is custom and policy, the last Saturday in April is the date for cleaning grounds and removing leaves.Work usually begins very early and is completed by noon. In addition to cleanup, the Board of Directors will present several business items to the members. Should inclement weather prevent outdoor activity, members will meet at 9 a.m. at Centerville United Methodist Church for the business session. All who have relatives or friends buried in the cemetery, or otherwise have an interest in it, are urged to attend.

61st Annual Arkansas Dairy Foods Contest: Wednesday, May 30; Little Rock; The contest is divided into two categories: Main Dish and Party Ideas. Each county may enter one recipe in each of the two categories. Students enrolled in 4-H aged 9-19 or in the 4th through 12th grades as of Jan. 01,2018, and living in Arkansas may enter. Home-schooled students may also enter. Entries must be approved by the county dairy committee or by the county Extension agent.
