Dorothy Ann Watkins died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at UAMS in Little Rock.

She was born Feb. 18, 1924 in Marvell, the daughter of Robert and Etta Yahnke Tschabold.

Dorothy went to elementary school in the Hicks community and attended the Evangelical and Reformed Church where she was pianist for Sunday School and church services.

She attended high school at Marvell and graduated as valedictorian of her class. After graduation she moved to Wisconsin and attended Sheboygan Business College and was employed by the Southwest State Bank in Sheboygan. Then she decided to enlist in the Women’s Army Corp. She served in the states in Airways Communication System for a while and was transferred to the Constabulary Forces in Heidelberg, Germany.

When her military career was complete she came back to Marvell and was employed by the agri department at Marvell School and later worked for the superintendent of the school until she married W. C. Watkins. They made their home at Watkins Corner and she was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

After the death of Mr. Watkins on Oct. 4, 1964 she moved to Marvell. After moving to Marvell she joined the First Baptist Church where she taught elementary Sunday School for 10 years and later was substitute teacher in the women’s class. When her last child entered school she was employed at Marvell Academy and worked there for 23 years.

Dorothy enjoyed her grandchildren, watching sports on TV, keeping up with current news events, and working crossword puzzles.

Dorothy leaves a son, Tommy Watkins (Paula) of Little Rock; two daughters, Diane Smith (Stephen) of Dallas, Texas and Lisa Fuller (Terry) of Poplar Grove; a stepson, J. F. Watkins (Jean) of Waco, Texas; a step-daughter, Kitty Norwood (Steve) of Poplar Grove; a sister, Ellen Hirsch of Marvell; three grandchildren, Mindy Sithong (Joe), Rayann Kehrees (Alex), and Gracie Fuller; many step grandchildren and step great-; grandchildren; many loving and caring nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pam Holder and Betsy Coleman.

She was preceded in death by a step- daughter, Barbara Scaife, a brother, Bobby Tschabold, and three sisters, Rachel Yancey, Maizie Taylor, and Sue Batchelor

A graveside service for Dorothy Watkins will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Cypert Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at Bob Neal & Sons-Brickell Funeral Home in Marvell. The obituary and guestbook is at:
