Funeral services for Natalie Marie Versey Carr will be held 2 p.m.,  Saturday, May 27 at St. Matthews M.B. Church at Marvell. Rev. Uzziah Duncan will officiate. 

Natalie Marie Versey Carr was born Feb.  13, 1958 in Holly Grove, to Elizabeth Versey and RossVersey, Jr..

She received her education in the public school system of Holly Grove, where she graduated in 1976.

  She joined the Army on Sept. 29, 1978 and served as a chapel activities specialist reaching the rank of PV2. She received chaplain assistant education during her service. While serving, she received a marksman badge for the M16.

  After her military service, she returned to Marvell. Natalie was a beneficial member of the community through her employment and community services at Holly Grove High School, Department of Human Services, Boys, Girls, Adults Community Development Center (BGACDC), and Mid-Delta Community Consortium.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age at St. Matthew's Missionary Baptist Church in Jones Ridge. She later joined First St. Mark's Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a faithful member until her health declined. During her membership, she served as an usher and taught Sunday School. She also served as the usher board president for the Bethlehem District.   
Natalie departed this life at her home in on May 21, 2017. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Shawana (Jordan) Caldwell of Harvey, Louisiana; a son, Kevin Johnson of Marvell; four grandchildren, Charles "Brendin" Carr of Marvell, DeAndre, Nathaniel and Patience Rollie of Colt; five sisters, Beulah Fair of Chicago, Illinois, Irma (Donnel) Humbert of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Wilma (Kenneth) Felton of Byron, Georgia, Aretha and Denise Versey of Marvell; three brothers, Gary (Ina) Mills of Detroit, Michigan, Carl (Clemetine), and Donald Versey of Marvell; close friends, Ella Ross of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and  Anna Huff-Davis of Marvell; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
