Local Girl Scout Troop 1120 has donated proceeds from their cookie sales to help in the community.

The girls chose to thank several important services in the community this year during the annual Girl Scouts Give Back Week, which was celebrated May 1 – 5. The Barton/Lexa Fire Department, Helena-West Helena Police Department, Pafford Ambulance Service, and Lexa Baptist Church all received donated boxes of cookies on May 4 as a way to say thank you.

The girls also decided to use part of their cookie money to make flower corsages for the elderly ladies who live at Christopher Homes for Mother’s Day and they bought some supplies needed by the Humane Society of the Delta. They were proud to make deliveries on May 5.

This is the second full year that Troop 1120 has been together. They currently serve 24 girls who attend Barton, Helena-West Helena, KIPP, and home school in Phillips County in grades K-12.

The troop is led by Paige Edgin and Mattlyn Vent.

If interested in joining Girl Scouts, they are currently accepting new girls for the upcoming fall school year.
