Marvin L. Morgan, 94, of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House.

Marvin L. Morgan, 94, of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House.

 

Mr. Morgan was born March 19, 1923, in Dora, Alabama, the son of Andrew Harvey and Cora Bell (Alexander) Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Carroll Morgan, a son, Michael Lawson Morgan, a granddaughter, Meredith Jean Davis, two brothers and six sisters.

 

Marvin was a World War II Army veteran having served in London, England. He worked for John Deere for 20 years as a field test technician retiring in February 1982. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church in Compton.

 

Mr. Morgan enjoyed mission trips to Alaska, worked with migrant workers at Elaine, was active in Brotherhood, served as a deacon, taught Sunday School, training union, and various committees in his church.

 

Marvin leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Roger Dale Williamson, of Harrison; his son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Jan Morgan, of Monroe, Louisiana; his daughter, Gayle Morgan, of Arab, Alabama; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charley Morgan of Delhi, Louisiana and Bobby Morgan and his wife Pat of Heflin, Louisiana; and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Morgan, of Marion.

 

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, May 12 at County Line Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Emerson officiating. Visitation will be at the church from noon to 2 p.m. Friday prior to the funeral.

 

Graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 13, at Sunset Memorial Garden with Pastor Rudy Davis officiating. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Helena-West Helena.
