Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Davis, 73, of Helena-West Helena, will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 1 at True Vine M.B. Church. Dr. Mark Allen will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 31 at Brown's Home for Funerals.
Dorothy Jean Davis was born March 15, 1944 in Marianna to George Washington Robinson Bey and Carrie Ethel Cooper. She was the eldest of eight children.
Dorothy attended school in the Lake View School District. She was a graduate of the class of 1963. She confessed her belief in Christ and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barton, until she moved to Chicago, Illinois.
While living in Chicago, she was a member of True Right Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the hospitality board until she moved back to Arkansas in 2004. After returning to Arkansas, Dorothy joined True Vine Missionary Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for the Mother’s Board until her death.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Melvin Cooper, two sisters, Evelyn and Rose.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Daphne Pinex (Alfonzo) of Lansing, Illinois, Valarie Hansberry (Paul) of Helena-West Helena; six brothers and sisters, Author Robinson, George Washington Robinson (Bernice) of Memphis, Tennessee, Joe Willie Robinson (Ruth), George Edward Robinson, Nettie Nesbitt, all of Chicago, Shanika Robinson of Kankakee, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, adopted children and grandchildren.
