Bethany Walker's poem, "Onward, My Friend" received first place in the poetry competition of Delta State University's Division of Languages and Literature. The poem has been selected for inclusion in DSU's "DA: A Journal of Delta Arts" scheduled to be published in late spring of this year.

Bethany Walker's poem, "Onward, My Friend" received first place in the poetry competition of Delta State University's Division of Languages and Literature. The poem has been selected for inclusion in DSU's "DA: A Journal of Delta Arts" scheduled to be published in late spring of this year.

A 2014 graduate of Barton High School, Bethany is currently a junior wildlife science management major at Delta State. She is the daughter of James and Belinda Walker of Barton.

In exchange for first North America print and electronic serial rights, Bethany will receive a contributor copy of the issue of "DA: A Journal of Delta Arts."

Besides being published, Bethany will receive a small cash prize and a certificate. She will also be invited to participate in the Confidante Award Winners Reading Reception in February on the DSU campus.

Bethany will participate in the 2017 Southern Literacy Festival scheduled March 26-28 at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.
