Less than 20 days out from the legendary King Biscuit Blues Festival! Yes, and for over 99.9 per cent of us that means good times, cool weather, great music and fellowship with music fans from around the world.

How does all this come about to allow tens of thousands of people nearly a week of musical festivities? What happens that brings all the vendors, artists, and fans together?

Working in the tourism industry I hear it all. Some folks out there may think the Blues Fest Fairy comes down and waves her wand and a festival just pops out. Or my favorite is that we all have done it so long the Blues Fest puts itself together. Well, folks, that could not be further from the truth.

As you have seen in the multitude of biscuit platter pics, it takes an entire community, and then some, to put on a festival the size of King Biscuit and this column is a big thank you to all the sponsors, both major and small, and all the people working frantically behind the scenes pulling it all together.

Give the King Biscuit HQ a shout and see what they need. If you can volunteer any of your time to help, I am more than sure Munnie Jordan and her staff will be able to find a place for you. I cannot wait for the first note of the festival to be played.

Other events, including musical entertainment will be included in the newly reformatted Delta Express. Over the next couple weeks, I will be including information on some of the major acts at this year’s festival. The 31st annual KBBF will be one for the book! If you know of any events you would like included, email them to thedeltaexpress@gmail.com

Munnie, Jo, Bernadette, and ALL the hard working ladies over there on Biscuit Row, thank you and let us all know how we can help.
