Doris Ann Brantley Lewellen of Marianna, departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 at the age of 65.

Doris Ann Brantley Lewellen of Marianna, departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 at the age of 65.

She was born Oct. 9, 1950 in Phillips County in the Southland Community near Lexa, to Chester and Samella Brantley.

Doris was a 1968 graduate of Eliza Miller High School in West Helena. Following high school, she continued her education at AM & N College in Pine Bluff and received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Administration.

She retired in 2012 from the Lee County School District as a food service coordinator. Doris leaves her husband of 43 years, Roy C. "Bill" Lewellen, Jr.; a daughter, Adrienne Lewellen; five sons, Roy, III, Michael (Clorissa), Mrcus, Marco and Marshall Lewellen; three sisters, Bobbie Jackson of Saginaw, Michigan; Lela Brown of St. Louis, Missouri; and Christine Thompson of Lexa; a brother, Chester Brantley of St. LouisO; three sisters-in-law, Earnestine (James) Walls of Chicago, Illinois; Annette (Joseph) Lewellen; Margaret Brown of Saginaw; a brother-in-law, Anthony "Tony" (Shelia) Lewellen; an eternal friend, Betty "Sue" Sanders; and an abundance of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 8 to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at Lee High School in Marianna. At noon, the funeral will follow a horse-drawn carriage procession from her home to Lee High School. The family will then have a repast at Lee High School Cafeteria, followed by the burial at Spring Lake Cemetery in Southland.
