Funeral services for Tonnie M. Rush will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at New Light M.B. Church

Tonnie Magella Rush was born Oct. 21, 1956 in Helena to Mary Sylar Rush and Willie Rush Sr.

Tonnie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age at Jackson Temple COGIC.  He was a proud Barton Bears Alumni.

After high school, Tonnie moved to California where he lived for many years.  He later returned home to Helena. He worked various jobs in the Phillips County area including his last place of employment, Norac Chemical Co. Tonnie was a very dedicated employee.

Tonnie loved his children, grandchildren, family and friends.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Willie Rush, his brother, Willie Rush Jr., and a niece, Chelsea Rush.

Tonnie transitioned peacefully in his home on Sept. 6, 2016.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Patrice Rush (Terrance) Iverson of McKinney, Texas; his son, Tony (Sherrie) Rush Jr. of Cordova, Tennessee; three sisters, Belinda (Michael) Coleman of Denton, Texas, Marilyn  Burrell and Elizabeth Rush of Lexa; two brothers, Joe (Lena) Rush of Corona, California, Milton Rush of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren, Malik Sheppard, Shatia Rush, Jasmine Rush, KeJuan Rush, Brooklyn Rush, Bailey Rush, the mother of his children, Bertha Brown of Helena-West Helena; a special friend, Janice Robinson of Helena-West Helena; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. 

Funeral services for Tonnie M. Rush will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at New Light M.B. Church. Bishop Leroy Carter will officiate. Interment will be in Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept.16 at Brown's Home for Funerals.
