Funeral services for Alvin "Bull" House will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 17 at Springlake M.B. Church.

Alvin House Sr., affectionately known as Nab, Bull, and Papa, was born Oct. 14, 1923 in Lonoke to the late Robert House Sr. and the late Rosie Ford-House.

Alvin was the second of 11 children. He helped his sisters, stepmother and father with his siblings. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Jackson Temple. Later he united with Spring Lake Baptist Church.

He married his loving and devoted wife, Bertha Lee Jackson-House on April 15, 1947. To this union eight children were born.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Bertha Lee House, a daughter, Bertha May House, a son, Alvin House Jr., two grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, stepmother, Ada House, four sisters, Olga Mayes, Rosie Duncan, Mildred Dodd and Annie Pearle House, three brothers, Lamont House, Artemas House and Frances House, 18 sisters-in-law, and 10 brothers-in-law.

Alvin transitioned to his heavenly home on Sept. 5, 2016.

He leaves to cherish his memory, four daughters, Rosemary (George) Jackson, Sandrews (Robert) Atkinson, both of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Margaret (James) Jones of Oviedo, Florida, and Kathy Renea House; a special friend, Rudy Trice of Elgin, Illinois; two sons, Benjamin (Lillie) House of Kenosha and Ricky (Brenda) House of Delaware, Ohio; four brothers, Robert House Jr., and Herman (Willie Dale) House, both of Denver, Colorado, Governor (Beverly) House of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and John Q. House of Southland; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Jackson and Queen Eston of Chicago, Illinois, Susie House of Helena-West Helena; a brother-in-law, Clifford Duncan Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

 

Alvin was loved and respected by everyone who came in contact with him. He found joy in spending time with his friends and family.

Funeral services for Alvin "Bull" House will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 17 at Springlake M.B. Church. Rev. Lavara Henry will officiate. Interment will be in Springlake Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16 at Brown's Home for Funerals.
