These Stars and Stripes were proudly flown February 17, 2015 over Operating Room No. 1 at the Craig Joint Theater Hospital at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. At the request of Lt. Col. Evan M. Jones the flag was presented to DeSoto School in honor of the Class of 1995 and their 20th reunion. The plaque that accompanies the flag reads, “In this operating room, the dedicated doctors, nurses, and technicians fought off death, gave sight to the blind, mended broken bones, remove shrapnel, renewed blood flow, repaired chest and abdominal trauma, extracted brain tumors, and fixed cleft palates; obtaining a remarkable 99.8 survival rate wounded warriors.”
