The judging and rules for the contest will be more consistent featuring Kansas City certified judges. Bobby Hoard, local coordinator of the Barbecue and Blues on the Levee Contest, noted there will be 29 judges total this year, half of which are master judges and/or table captains.

Hoard said, "By adding this to the Blues fest, guests will have more to do."

The contest will be held on Walnut Street during the 30th annual King Biscuit Blues Festival.

For those that want to sample some of the barbecue at this event, the People's Choice Awards is for you. For a fee of $10 you can taste a sample of all the entries and vote for your favorite.

The Kansas City Barbecue Society judging is a separate event.
