Alzheimer’s Arkansas Programs and Services will present a very special mini Hope for the Future Symposium on Thursday, September 24 at the UAMS – East Center in Helena-West Helena according to Priscilla Pittman, program director.
The “Mini-Hope” is a half-day educational symposium for families and other caregivers says Pittman. Professionals from Phillips County and the greater Delta area will present the latest information on Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Welcome and announcements will get underway at 8:25 with the first of several speakers.
According to Pittman, topics expected to be covered include: “Alzheimer’s Disease: An Overview,” “Communication: Understanding Unmet Needs” and “Caring for the Caregiver.”
Lunch will be provided free for caregivers attending the sessions.
Pittman reported that family caregivers attend the sessions free of charge. Professionals and family caregivers requesting CEUs will be charged $30. Alzheimer’s Arkansas will help pay for someone to stay with the caregiver’s loved one on the day of the session.
