H-WHPD Chief Virgil Green reports that at approximately 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 28 a citizen driving in the area of College and Adams streets in the north Helena discovered the body of black male lying in the middle of the street.

A long, hot summer continues in Helena-West Helena as local police investigate the city’s second homicide in the past eight days.

H-WHPD Chief Virgil Green reports that at approximately 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 28 a citizen driving in the area of College and Adams streets in the north Helena discovered the body of black male lying in the middle of the street.

According to Green, officers arrived at the scene and discovered that the unidentified male had been shot several times and was deceased.

“Investigators arrived on the scene where they discovered that the victim’s body had most likely been driven to the area and dumped alongside the street,” stated Green.

The report goes on to say that police believe that the body had been in the area several hours.

“We are working to identify the victim, and to determine what events lead up to the shooting,” added Green. “We are asking anyone with any information about this shooting to contact the Helena-West Helena Police Department at 807-572-3441.”
