Here are five ways to have fun this weekend.

1. The big movies opening this week are “Pixels,” a PG-13 sci-fi flick starring Pac-Man, Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan and Peter Dinklage; “Paper Towns,” a PG-13 teen flick; and “Southpaw,” an R sports drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Oona Laurence and Forest Whitaker.

2. Saturday is National Dance Day, a day designed to get people to dance and get some exercise. Hold a dance competition among your friends, learn a new dance, take a class - whatever, just get moving!

3. Did you know Parents’ Day is a real thing? It sure is, and it’s recognized by Congress. A congressional resolution said the day is for “recognizing, uplifting, and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children.” It will be celebrated Sunday, so, parents, do something special that day!

4. Saturday will see a very special day - Video Games Day. If you need an excuse to play video games, this is it, a day designed specifically to celebrate them. And why not play some old games this weekend in connection with “Pixels”?

5. Also on Saturday is the National Day of the Cowboy, a day designed to celebrate cowboy culture. You can head to the library and check out some Western-themed books or movies, dress up like a cowboy all day, have a cowboy-themed contest or whatever you’d like.
