Funeral services for Joseph Smith will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 25 at the Galilee M.B Church. Rev. Jesse King will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, July 24 at Brown's Home for Funerals. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery.

Joseph Smith was born March 13, 1924 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Lillie and Julius Smith.

Joseph worked for many years as an insurance agent for J.M. Calhoun Funeral Home.

Joseph affectionately known as “Joe” was an excellent and humble servant of God. Joseph accepted Christ at the age of 12. He was the oldest deacon of Galilee M.B. Church where he faithfully served until his health failed him.

God sent an angel to escort Deacon Joseph Smith , a true solider for Christ home on Thursday, July 16, 2015.

Joseph leaves a sister, Mildred English of Marvell, a host of cousins, special friends, and his church family.
