Funeral services for Lodessa Brown-English will be held at noon, Saturday, July 18 at New Light M.B. Church. Supt. Alex J. Smith will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at Greater Powerhouse COGIC on Friday, July 17.
Lodessa Brown-English was born on July 29, 1947 in Lexa to the late Lichman Vineyard and Addie Brown Anderson.
Lodessa gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Christ Temple COGIC where she served in various capacities such as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School secretary and missionary. Lodessa remained a faithful member until her health failed.
Lodessa attended Eliza Miller High School. She worked various jobs in the Phillips County Area including: Dreamland Café, old Helena Hospital, Helena Regional Medical Center, Helena Sportswear Company and Wal-Mart until her retirement. She sold Avon for many years throughout the community.
Lodessa is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Irene Moss, a brother, Litchmon Vineyard Jr., and a grandson, Joshua X. Walker.
Lodessa leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 50 years, Arthur English Sr.; five sons, Kasey (Rose) Lindsey, Murvin English, Lasalle (Lynette) English, Dondriel (Kwajalin) English, Arthur (Melia) English Jr.; two daughters, Laquetta English and Addie English; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Vivian) Brown and Earnest (Pamela) Brown; three sisters, Mattie Brown, Rosetta House and Mattie Butcher; two special friends that were like sisters, Beverly Vincent and Juanita Johnson; her godchildren, Cornelius Dobbins, Jr., Karen Hicks, LaTanya Strickland, Daniel Strickland, Mahlon Barnes, Frank Ross, Clemon Brown, Nicole Gamble, Dexter Davis, Micheal Sullivan; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
