Funeral services for Silverstine Young will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at the Second Baptist Church.
Silverstine Sidney Young was born to Andrew Sidney and Nettie Mae Smith on March 15, 1956 in West Helena. She was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age at the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. Silverstine attended Helena-West Helena Public Schools. She was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1974. Silverstine married the late James Nathaniel Lee Young (Mosquito) on Dec. 8, 1982. She was a member of the National Teacher's Day Committee as well as a member of the New Bethel Order of the Eastern Star Chapter. Silverstine was a young woman who embraced life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by friends and loved ones. Silverstine was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Sidney and Mother Nettie Smith, her husband, James Nathaniel Lee Young, a brother, Lewis Sidney, and a son, Carlos Jermaine Sidney. She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Michael (Sharon) Moore of Little Rock; a daughter, Teresa Moore of Helena-West Helena; a brother, Charles Sidney of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Ruth Fitzpatrick of Helena-West Helena; two nephews, Rev. Vincent (Sandra) Bell of Helena-West Helena and Mark Fitzpatrick of Helena-West Helena; a niece, Cynthia (Jarvis) Smith of Helena-West Helena; four grandchildren, Thelisha Branch of Helena-West Helena, Alvin Moore Jr., Kaylin Moore of Little Rock, and Claude'ya Williams of Helena-West Helena. Silverstine also leaves a host of other relatives and a special friend, Regener Boards Funeral services for Silverstine Young will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at the Second Baptist Church. Rev. Jarvis Smith will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery.
