Dr. John Henry Barrow Jr., MD, 90, passed away the morning of March 22, 2012, having lived a full and happy life.

 



Dr. John Henry Barrow Jr., MD, 90, passed away the morning of March 22, 2012, having lived a full and happy life.



He was a veteran of World War II, married Miss Ole Miss, graduated from University of Arkansas School of Medicine in 1949, did his internship at Tripler General Services Hospital in Honolulu, retired from the Army as a captain, started practicing medicine in Arkansas in 1950, and retired after 42 years of a distinguished medical practice in Helena-West Helena.



He was an avid sportsman, golfer, hunter, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband. He loved a good game of gin and usually took everyone’s money.       



He leaves his loving wife, Betty Barrow “Steamboat”; his children, John Harley and Karen Barrow, Chris and Glenna Barrow, Rob and Angela Barrow; his grandchildren, Harley and June Barrow, Russ and Darnella Barrow, Christal Barrow and Robyn Barrow; his great-grandchildren, Cole Barrow, Reid Barrow, Peyton Barrow, and Gage Barrow.  Dr. B. always said, “I have no regrets, I would not change an single thing about my life.”



Funeral services were held Sunday, March   25at First United Methodist Church in Helena.
