Rev. Kirk Daniel Kirkwood was born to the late Jesse and L.E. Kirkwood in Calico Bottoms on Aug. 3, 1944.
Rev. Kirk Daniel Kirkwood was born to the late Jesse and L.E. Kirkwood in Calico Bottoms on Aug. 3, 1944. Kirk was taught at an early age the importance of the love and grace of God. He confessed his hope in Christ at the Pleasant Joy Church under the leadership of the Rev. T.R. Redmond. Accepting Jesus as his personal savior, he began his life long service to the work of the Lord.
Kirk Daniel graduated from Lake View High School in 1963. He attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. There he met Miss Zella English and they united in matrimony.
Thus the Lord saw fit to call him into the field of the ministry. Locating to Nashville, Tenn., Kirk worked for the Lord the next 34 years. He also was employed at the University of Tennessee as a librarian.
The Lord called his name “Servant,” Rev. Kirkwood answered on Dec. 19, 2011.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Kirk Daniel Kirkwood. Jr.; two daughters, Charlene Pruitt of Helena-West Helena, Kathy Kirkwood of Arizona; nine sisters, Evelyn Jackson of Flint Mich., Theatice Tedford of Arizona, Mary Bogard of Little Rock, Evella Keyes of Flint, Ollie Van Buren of Flint, Jessie Watkins of Helena-West Helena, Algra Mae Hillery, Lillie Mae Kirkwood, Lonnie Jean Sims, all of Little Rock; three brothers, Stanley Kirkwood, Howard Kirkwood, Clifton Kirkwood, all of Helena-West Helena ; seven grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Visitations will be from 1 to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at Crystal Fountain Church, Nashville Tenn. from noon to 1 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 23 in the Jackson – Highley Funeral Home Chapel and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Crystal Fountain Church in Nashville. Interment will follow immediately in Greenwood North Cemetery, Nashville.
