County Judge Don Gentry and the Phillips County Quorum Court met for the first of three special sessions beginning Monday night.

 



County Judge Don Gentry and the Phillips County Quorum Court met for the first of three special sessions beginning Monday night.



The purpose of the sessions is to read, consider and vote on a clean-up budget and the 2012 annual operating budget for the county.



If approved, the allotted budget amount will total $3,546,111. The proposed 2012 budget totals $2,881, 760 – $664,351 less than a year ago. County officials are reviewing cuts from the 2011 budget before final approval.



The passage of the operating budget requires three readings. The JPs were scheduled to meet again tonight at 6:10 and Wednesday night at 6:20 for possibly the third and final reading.



All meeting will take place in the circuit courtroom of the Phillips County Courthouse.
