Help Senior Citizens survive is collecting holiday greeting cards to distribute to local nursing home patients this holiday season. The project, named Help Senior Citizens Smile, is aimed at providing holiday cheer to what founders describe as an often forgotten group.
President T.J. McCrary voiced the need, saying that often times nursing home patients are without family in the area or loved ones to visit. He continued saying that a simple card would provide a smile to those who did not receive mail or those who felt lonely during the holidays.
The group plans to service nursing homes in Phillips, St. Francis and Cross counties as well as select patients served by home health and hospice care.
Help Senior Citizens Survive encourages the donation of any and all cards, including postcards, previous year greetings and handmade ones. Shelter Insurance offices in the area are serving as designated drop off locations. These agencies include: Jason Smith’s agency at 633 Oakland Ave. in Helena, Seth Carroll’s agency at 1515 Washington in Forrest City, Brett McFadden’s agency at 750 East Bridges St. Ste D in Wynne and Debbie Meyer’s agency at 723c Falls Blvd. in Wynne.
Help Senior Citizens Survive is a 501 ©(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping those 55 and older in the Arkansas Delta who are having difficulty meeting basic needs and expenses. Any and all donations are appreciated.
