Pauline Elizabeth Stanton Smith, 86, of Helena, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011.



She was born May 22, 1925 to W.L. and Pauline Stanton.  She lived all of her life in Helena.



She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Helena where she was a member of St. Anne’s Circle and a religious education teacher.



She taught high school Latin in Elaine in the early 1950s, and was employed by the City of Helena, and later by the Department of Human Services as a casework supervisor, where she retired.



Pauline graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1943.  She attended the College of the Ozarks and graduated from Arkansas A & M in Monticello in 1947.



Survivors include a son, Father Andy Smith of Jacksonville; a daughter, Laurie Smith McLendon of Helena, a granddaughter, Katie Lauren McLendon Walzer (Brett) of Jonesboro; a grandson, Nicholas Charles McLendon (Brooke) of Benton; and a great granddaughter, Peyton Reid McLendon of Benton.



Vigil service will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Tuesday, Nov. 29at 6 p.m.



A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Mary’s at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30.



Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Helena following the Mass.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Helena, The Helena Little Theater and the Humane Society of the Delta in Helena.



Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, Helena-West Helena, will direct services.
