Funeral Services for Mary Vaughn, 51 of Poplar Grove, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. Pastor Billy Ward Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, Nov. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Kincaid Funeral Services.

?Mother Mary Bethel Harris-Vaughn was born June 17, 1960, in Helena, the seventh child of the late Deacon James Harris Sr. and Mother Ruth Ella Thomas Harris. She attended school in the Marvell School District and later received her GED. She furthered her education by receiving an Associate Degree from Phillips Community College in Helena. She held a CNA certificate and a cosmetologist licensure.

Mother Harris confessed hope in Christ at an early age under the leadership of Elder James Hicks at St. Peter M.B. Church where she served on the kitchen committee. She later united with First St. Paul M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Billy Ward where she was faithful and dutiful until her health failed. She was united in holy matrimony to John Whiteside and to this union two children were born Anthony Whiteside and Kendra Whiteside.  Later, she married Floyd Vaughn.

In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, fishing and reading. 

Mother Vaughn departed this world on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at Pine Bluff. 

Her son, Anthony Whiteside, both parents, her grandparents, Brother John and Sister Mary Thomas and Brother Roy and Sister Jennie Mae Harris, 3 sisters, Ms. Ruthie Mae Williams, Ms. Anita Harris and Ms. Jennie Watkins and a brother, Brother Harry Lee Harris, preceded her in death.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving children, Kendra Whiteside, Kelley Whiteside and Demetrice Whiteside, all of Pine Bluff, three grandchildren-, Renicha Whiteside of Clarendon, Ruth Vetta Whiteside of Helena-West Helena and Kaleah Nicole Whiteside of Southaven, Miss.; her siblings, Alfred Harris of Rondo, Barney Harris (Linda) of Helena, Dorothy Harris-Smith of Pine Bluff, James Harris Jr. (Linda) of Kingsland, Mattie Harris-Yarbrough (Clark) of Rowlett, Texas; Andrew Collins of Southland; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
