Funeral services for David Baylark, formerly of Helena-West Helena, will be Saturday 11a.m. at the New Light Baptist Church.  Rev. Edward Wade will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Baylark was born on Jan. 10, 1959 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Baylark Sr.
David grew up in Helena, attended New Light Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as an usher, and was educated in the Helena School System. David eventually moved to Little Rock where he resided for many years. He moved back to Helena in 2007 to care for his father after he became ill.
David was employed by Freedom for Youth, Inc.  (A faith-based organization that works with youth and their families) where he coordinated the transportation, maintained the facility and represented Freedom for Youth at meetings and workshops. He was a mentor for the ACTION for Kids Program and the CASSP Program. He was also a member of the Cultural Diversity Subcommittee and the Phillips County Prevention Coalition. You never met a more dedicated, committed worker.
David was a servant, very accommodating and always willing to help and meet the needs of others. He was a happy person, well groomed and always laughing and joking and making others laugh. He often jokingly referred to himself as, "It's just Ole Dave".
He leaves to cherish his memory, four children, a daughter, Kaylebrae
(Kevin) Baylark-Cross of Little Rock; three sons, Courtney (Anterica) Baylark, of Helena-West Helena; William Ross and Joshua Baylark of Little Rock; four sisters, Betty (Walter) Darnell of Helena, Carolyn (Robert) Beene of Charlotte, N.C., Rose (Edward) Buford of Helena-West Helena, Earline Baylark of Little Rock; three brothers, Johnnie (Delois) Baylark Jr., Downers Grove, Ill., Steven Baylark, Helena and Danelle Baylark of Little Rock; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
