Funeral services for George H. Banks, 80, of Helena, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at the PLM&D District Center at Helena Crossing. Elder James Hicks will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove No. 3 Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Brown's Home For Funerals chapel.
Banks died Oct. 6, 2010 in his home around his loving family. George was born Sept.26, 1930 in Marvell to Henry and Lucille Banks He worked for the Corps of Engineers. He also farmed and worked for the Slack Water Harbor. He loved his family dearly. He was a loyal Atlanta Braves fan.
He loved to sing and sang with the Faithful Harmonizers for many years. George was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Michael Banks and Van Coleman; a sister, Jessie Spears; three brothers, Rev. Walter Banks, Tony Banks and Willie (Bill) Banks.
 He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Rosie Lee Banks; four daughters; Luceal (James) McClure and Georgia
Washington of Jonesboro, Valrica Norton of Helena-West Helena and Diane (Lawrence) Young of Seattle, Wash.; 10 sons, Alvin Banks of Memphis, Nathaniel Banks and Darnell (Flora) Braggs, both of Maywood, Ill. Marshall (Collet) Banks and Jerry Banks of Topeka, Kansas, Milton (Waynette) Banks and George (Barbara) Banks, both of Jonesboro, Mark Banks of Appleton, Wis., Ronald (Chandra) Rice and Andre Rice of Memphis; two special sons, Willie Davis of Maywood, Ill. and Wayne Worstell of Helena-West Helena; two brothers; Nathaniel(Maggie) Banks of Waukegan, Ill. and James (Mary) Banks; three sisters, Christine Currie of Decatur, Ill, Mattie Wheeler of Boston, Mass., Betty Smith of Denver, Colo.; 66 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
