As the result of a domestic disturbance, a Helena-West Helena man has been charged with kidnapping, domestic battery in the first degree, aggravated assault on a family member, theft of property, possession of firearms by certain persons and attempted murder.

 

As the result of a domestic disturbance, a Helena-West Helena man has been charged with kidnapping, domestic battery in the first degree, aggravated assault on a family member, theft of property, possession of firearms by certain persons and attempted murder.
Edward Swopes, 28, who lives on Wendland Road in Helena, faces those charges after Kamedra Rogers went to Swopes’ home to pick up her child.
Swopes accompanied Rogers back to her house on Lincoln Court. Another man, Maurice Lewis, knocked on Rogers' window and Swopes allegedly began yelling and pulled out a gun.
Swopes forced Rogers to take him to the Lewis’ home at 301 North Sixth St. At the Lewis home Swopes allegedly forced Rogers to knock on the door and ask for Lewis.
When Lewis walked to the car Swopes opened fire. Rogers tried to leave the car but was shot in the upper thigh.
 Pafford EMTs were called and Rogers was treated at the scene.
