Helena-West Helena firefighters responded to a fire at a vacant house at 160 Anderson St. The fire, which occurred around 1 a.m., heavily damaged the structure.
Firemen also responded to a minor fire next door at 166 Anderson. Minor fire damage was reported to the kitchen.
The fire reignited at 160 Anderson at 2:25 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters handled a major grass fire alarm at 3:44 p.m. Friday in a field behind Killion Heating and Air Conditioning.



A 1997 Mercury Mountaineer reported stolen from the home of Nequila and Jackie Henry at 615 Seminole on New Year’s Day was discovered on fire on Airport Road.
A few minutes before Henry reported the vehicle stolen, police received a 911 call informing them a vehicle was on fire about 1/4 of a mile left of the Airport Road on Phillips County 218 Road.
The investigation was turned over to the Phillips County Sheriff's Department.

A woman who lives in an apartment building on Beech Street reported to police Jan. 2 that her apartment was broken into. However nothing was taken, when the woman arrived home around 11:30 p.m. she noticed scratches on the front door and her living room window was raised.
Once inside, she discovered that the kitchen, bedroom drawers were pulled out and ransacked.
