After a week’s delay over a legal squabble, the 3A Arkansas high school football playoffs got underway Friday night.
And the Barton Bears faithful got their money’s worth at Frank McClellan Field in a game that coupled two evenly matched teams  – the home standing Bears and the Green Forest Tigers.
Barton came out on top but the 31-15 final score was not indicative of the tightness of the contest that featured three lead changes and was a 1-point game until the final two minutes.
It was the Bears’ first playoff win since 2004, Barton’s last trip to the state football championship game.
The Bears will host Glen Rose Friday night in Round 2 of the Class 3A playoffs. Kick off is set for 7:30.
