State lottery officials say that nearly $450,000 in prizes have been awarded as the state began selling scratch-off tickets Monday.
Arkansas Lottery Director Ernie Passailaigue said Monday that the games had not encountered any major problems as tickets went on sale. Passailaigue said about 1,500 retailers were selling scratch-off tickets. Passailaigue estimated that about $600,000 worth of tickets have been sold by 4 p.m.
Officials say a Rison woman on Monday went to a claims center at the lottery's headquarters to redeem $1,000 she had won from a $2 scratch-off ticket she bought in Pine Bluff.
