STUTTGART — Severe thunderstorms did minor damage at an eastern Arkansas airport and knocked out electricity to more than 1,000 customers, but no injuries have been reported.
Arkansas County Emergency Management Coordinator Shanda Harris said hangars at the Stuttgart Municipal Airport in neighboring Prairie County were damaged and power poles were knocked down when a strong storm moved through area Wednesday.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the county, but Harris said officials don't know if a twister caused the damage. The weather service reported an 86-mph wind gust at the Stuttgart airport.
The weather service says law enforcement officers reported a tornado near Marvell in Phillips County, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.
Downed power lines and trees were reported near Malvern and Pine Bluff.
