Authorities say a Forrest City woman is in serious condition after she was allegedly shot in the stomach by her father.
Police say they were called to a Forrest City home early Tuesday morning after a shooting was reported. Once there, police found 64-year-old Melvin Givans sitting on a bed, holding a pistol. Police say Givans admitted shooting his daughter, 43-year-old Maralyn Givans, during an argument.
Maralyn Givens was airlifted to The Med in Memphis, Tenn., where she is in serious condition. Melvin Givans is being held in the St. Francis County jail and faces an arraignment Wednesday afternoon.
