After a 58-6 rout of West Memphis Christian in the season opener Aug. 20, Marvell Academy found Bayou Academy far more competitive, but not enough to keep the Eagles from coming away with a 30-20 victory here Friday night.
After a rugged first half that ended in an 8-8 draw, the Eagles exploded for three second-half touchdowns and held off a good Colt passing attack to post their second victory of the season.
Senior running back R.P. George scored two touchdowns – the first coming from 20 yards out with 10:03 in the opening period and the second TD on a 50-yard jaunt with 11:43 in the game that gave the Eagles a seemingly insurmountable lead at 22-8.
After George broke for his first touchdown so early in the game it appeared briefly that the Eagles might make easy work of Bayou Academy.
That was not to be the case as the Colts refused to go away quietly.

That score energized the Eagle defense and kept the Colts at bay on their next possession.
