Cougars fall to Greene County Tech

When Central’s 2009-2010 basketball season comes to a close the one area that could have made a difference in the Cougars’ final spot in 5A-East will be their free throw deficiency.
 The Cougars displayed their athleticism that included speed, agility and good rebounding against Greene County Tech at home Friday night, but their poor free throw shooting proved the difference in a 51-39 loss.
 Greene County Tech’s Golden Eagles are among the teams chasing frontrunner Wynne with an opportunity to catch the Yellowjackets.
 GCT, 8-2 in the league, trails Wynne, 9-1, and will host the ‘Jackets next week.
Forrest City and Blytheville likewise are still in the hunt.
Central fell to 3-6 in the league and 5-14 overall.
 The top four teams in the 5A-East will be invited to the Class 5A State Tournament at Alma.
