Charleston's Dain Young signed a letter of intent to play college football at Graceland University on Wednesday.
The NAIA school, located in Lamoni, Iowa, competes in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The Jackets finished 1-10 in 2017 and haven't had a winning season since 2007.
Young earned all-state status last fall. He was a three-year starter for coach Greg Kendrick's squad.
"It means a lot, it really does," he said. "Not many people get to do this."
By chance, a former Graceland coach picked up on Young at a linemen camp last summer.
"I went to lineman camp and the old coach passed along the information to the new coach," Young said.
Young will unit with his cousin, Derek Tillotson, at Graceland. Tillotson, a Missouri native, has three years of eligibility remaining.
