Robert Michael "Mike" Layton, 54, of Pocahontas, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the V.A. hospital in Memphis. Layton was born July 31, 1955 in Helena to Margaret Christine Smith Layton and the late Robert Elee Layton Jr. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Helena and the Walcot Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army and he was employed as a truck driver.
He leaves his wife, Kimberly Ray Layton; two sons, Jay McDonald and Johnny McDonald and wife, Andrea, of Pocahontas; a daughter, April Rowley and husband, Randall Rowley Jr. of Pocahontas; four grandchildren, Amanda, Haleigh, Ryan and Marissa; his mother, Christine Layton of Helena-West Helena; two sisters, Pamela Haggins of Helena-West Helena and Kim Siano and husband, Patrick, of Eads, Tenn.; two brothers, Jeffery Layton of Fort Smith and Ronnie Layton of Helena-West Helena; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Katherine Layton and his grandparents, Margaret and Pete Smith and Robert Sr. and Evelyn Layton.
Services for Mike Layton will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, March 13at Roller-Citizens. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Roller-Citizens. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Helena-West Helena. Brother Mark Spencer will officiate.
Pallbearers are Ricky Caldwell, Rodney Laureles, Larry Jarriels, Burnis Shelton, Tommy McAlexander and Scott Haggins. Honorary pallbearers are Louis Cole, Joe Boris, David Henley, Carl Henley, Carl Knuckles, Robert Haggins and Tom Burns.
