Jeannette Jones Tabb was born Aug. 23, 1952 in Turner to Mrs. R.V. Brewster and the late Phillip Jones. She was the only girl of nine children and of course the apple of her parents’ eye. Her father, Phillip Jones and three brothers, L.C.Brewster, Eugene (Bush) Wells and Herman (Jack) Price, preceded her in death.
Jeannette accepted Christ at an early age at the Word Chapter A.M.E. Church. She later moved her membership to the St. Matthew M.B. Church of Gumbottom under the leadership of Rev. F.W. Williams. She was a faithful, active choir member. She remained a faithful member until her untimely death.
During her journey through life she worked many jobs. She worked as a nursing assistant for 23 years, a school bus driver for 19 years and in home health for 15 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life a loving and devoted husband of 17 years, Hosie Tabb; her loving mother, Rveola Brewster; three sons, James Lloyd Whitaker Jr. of Little Rock, Doysa Lee (Listte) Whitaker of McDonough, and Michael Ray Whitaker of McDonough; two stepsons, Otis Tabb of Memphis and Jasper (Rosie) Tabb of Holly Grove; two stepdaughters, Vivian (Eric) Norwood of Little Rock and Bertha Tabb of Holly Grove; six brothers, Wellie C., John Wesley of Helena, Delton and Roy of Marvell, Lorey Verlene and Elijah, both of Chicago; a sister, Sherely (Joe) also of Chicago. She also has a very special aunt that will truly miss her, Teola Wilson, of Turner. Jeanette had 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
