Funeral services for Jonathan Edward Boyd, 62, of Helena-West Helena, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jarvis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove No. 1 Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5-7 p.m. in the chapel.
Jonathan Edward Sr. was born on Sept. 9, 1947 to Betty Gathings and George Boyd Sr. in Lexington, Miss.
He graduated from Eliza Miller High School in 1967. The Social Security Office employed Boyd for over 20 years.
His parents, and a sister, Georgia Boyd, preceded him in death.
He departed this life on Oct. 15, 2009 in Helena.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Jonathan Boyd Jr. of Helena-West Helena; a stepson, Clarence Bonds (Jeanette) of Stafford, Va.; two brothers, Ed Boyd of Chicago and Robert Boyd of Greenwood, Miss.; two sisters, Leoma and Odell Boyd of Chicago; an uncle, John Pierce of Los Angeles, Calif.; two aunts, Willie Jean Pierce and Choyce B. Pierce of Helena-West Helena; a special friend, Tasheba Mason of Lexa; two grandchildren, Jakih Boyd and Jonathan Jermaine Boyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
